Australia is not just looking for workers. It is actively competing for them. And if you are a Filipino skilled professional in a field Australia cannot fill locally, this article is for you.

Here is how the employer sponsored visa actually works.

What is it?

The Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482) allows an Australian employer to sponsor you for a role they cannot fill locally. It is one of the most direct pathways to living and working in Australia, no points test, no ballot, no years in a queue.

Do you qualify?

You need four things:

A job offer from an approved Australian employer.

Your occupation on the Core Skills Occupation List, which covers 456 in-demand roles across healthcare, engineering, IT, trades, hospitality, and more.

At least one year of relevant work experience. English proficiency that meets visa and professional requirements.

Salary must meet a minimum threshold of AUD $76,515 per year, increasing to approximately AUD $79,499 from July 2026.

Can it lead to permanent residency?

After two to three years with your sponsoring employer, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residency. Your partner and children can come with you and have full work and study rights.

So what is the hard part?

The visa process is manageable through the help of a registered migration agent. The hard part is getting the job offer in the first place. Australian employers are not browsing Philippine job boards. The connection between a qualified Filipino professional and an Australian employer who needs them does not happen by accident. It happens through recruitment.

Where We Can Help.

Haraya specialises in connecting Filipino professionals in the allied health space with Australian employers who are actively hiring. If you are an allied health professional, we maintain a curated candidate pool and present your profile directly to Australian healthcare organisations.

Once you have a job offer, our Philippine partner Cander Visa Consultancy Services supports you through the professional registration process, including exam preparation and skills assessment, which typically takes six to twelve months.

We are not a migration agent. We are the bridge between your qualifications and the employer who needs them.

The best time to start preparing is now.

Every month you wait is a month added to the end of your timeline.

Reach out to Haraya. We will have an honest conversation about whether this is the right move for you.

HARAYA. Talent. Where It Matters.

Disclaimer: Haraya is a specialist recruitment agency. We do not provide migration advice, prepare visa applications, or act as registered migration agents. Candidates who receive a job offer through Haraya are referred to a trusted MARA-registered migration agent who will support them through the visa and professional registration process independently. This ensures that all migration advice is provided by a qualified professional, and that candidates are fully and properly supported through every stage of their journey to Australia.
